Downhill skating flips that model. By using counter rotation, proper joint angles, and natural gravitational momentum, we teach you move faster with less effort.
\n
Inside the Downhill Skating System, players learn to:
\n
1) Unlock the inner spring for better acceleration.
\n
2)Use different footwork patterns to add options, deception and effortlessness.
\n
3)Proper joint alignment for efficiency and balance instead of creating tension with push strides.
\n
Apply NHL-base mechanics like shin angle, Y-angle, rhythm and cadence. Generate speed using the rocker, with heel pressure and subtle weight transfers.
\n
This system is not what players would learn in traditional, outdated power skating methods. It’s a biomechanics-based operating system designed to match your body type and natural movement patterns.
\n
Whether you’re trying to improve the forward stride, lateral movements, deception, or posture, Downhill Skating reveals the hidden mechanics the NHL’s best rely on, and shows you how to plug them into your game step by step.
\n
If you’re ready to skate faster with less effort, flow through transitions, and move with the smoothness of the world’s best players, the Downhill Skating System is your blueprint to faster player development.
\n
👉 Drills, breakdowns, progressions, and full mechanics playbook (100's of videos) all available in Train 2.0+ here:
\n
https://train2point0.com/membership
\n
About Train 2.0:
\n
Train 2.0 is an online hockey development platform founded by Jason Yee: kinesiologist, former professional player, and UBC honors graduate. We take three things that separate him from the other superstar skaters and put them side by side with what traditional power skating still teaches, and those differences are massive, because they better allow a player to skate downhill, loose, relaxed and effortless, instead of applying old powerskating methods and sub-optimal mechanics.
\n
When you are not wasting energy with every stride, you don’t gas out as fast, which frees your brain up to make the next play or better see the ice and take what is given. It is not that these subtle differences looks different, it is that when the body is working so hard just to keep up to game speed you shut it down to optimizing play making and more specifically decision making.
\n
Once you see it, you can't un-see it.
\n
Here's a look at the Downhill Skating System and how you can start skating more like the world's best players:
\n
FREE TRAINING: https://train2point0.com/free-training
\n
The Downhill Skating System is the mechanics-first approach that unlocks effortless, controlled speed on the ice without extra conditioning, pushing, or \"trying harder.\" Inspired by the movement signatures of Connor McDavid, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Quinn Hughes, and other elite NHL skaters, it teaches you to move with gravity, using your body's own stretch shortening cycles alongside efficient footwork and skating mechanics.
\n
By using counter rotation, proper joint angles, and natural momentum, you move faster with less effort.
\n
Inside Train 2.0+ you'll learn to:
\n
- Unlock the inner spring for better acceleration.
\n
- Use direction changes that keep you deceptive and hold your optionality.
\n
- Build NHL superstar mechanics, instead of repatterning the wrong movements.
\n
- Turn these mechanics into in game assets, completely changing your player DNA and development trajectories.
\n
Start free here: https://train2point0.com/free-training
\n
Drills, breakdowns, progressions and the full mechanics playbook (100s of videos) are inside Train 2.0+: https://train2point0.com/membership
\n
Weekly breakdowns we don't post anywhere else: https://train2point0.beehiiv.com/
\n
Subscribe for weekly skill presentations and drills: https://www.youtube.com/@Train2point0
\n
Coaches, book a free discovery call: https://train2point0.com/coaches
\n
Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/train2point0/
\n
X: https://twitter.com/train2point0
\n
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/train2point0/
\n
#train2point0 #downhillskating #hockeytraining #NHL
\n
\n
\n Website: YouTube\n
\n
\n
\n
\n \n \n
\n

"

With only four preseason games prior to the season starting, the Bolts are kicking things off with a NHL-veteran heavy line-up tonight. a look at the #Bolts lines and D pairings from their first morning skate of the preseason: Mikheyev – Point – Kucherov Hagel – Cirelli – Guentzel Geekie – O’Reilly – Rautiainen Kulebiakin – Czata – Sabourin Moser – Carlson Hedman – Crozier McDonagh – Cernak — Gabby Shirley (@Gabby_Shirley_) September 20, 2026 According to the Lightning’s daily group report, the goaltenders should be Andrei Vasilevskiy and Mads Sogaard. A quick glance at the line-up shows a defense and top-six that will likely mirror what we see on Opening night against the New York Rangers. Coach Jon Cooper isn’t messing around as he looks to establish some chemistry with his squad early on in training camp. At the same time, some players presumed to be on the roster bubble are getting a look with the top players. Oleg Kulebiakin and Scott Sabourin probably aren’t going to make the roster unless things really go off the rails. Benjamin Rautiainen and Sam O’Reilly are a couple of rookies whose chances increased with the injuries to Yanni Gourde and Dominic James while Ethan Czata might earn a shot for a few games with the big club before being assigned to his junior team. Seeing Ilya Mikheyev begin his Lightning career on the top line is intriguing. He has the wheels to play with Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov while giving them a little help in the defensive game. Could he find a role similar to Ondrej Palat as a two-way forward that can chip in enough offense to justify his spot on the line? Connor Geekie starts on the wing as he looks to lock in a permanent spot on the roster. LIke O’Reilly and Rautiainen, his chance to earn a spot became slightly easier with a couple of forwards out of service early in the season. Expect a little rotation on the defensive side, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Bolts try and keep J.J. Moser on his natural side after his strong season last year. Expect all three combinations to get similar ice time at 5v5 with John Carlson and Victor Hedman getting some extra time on the power play. Reports from the morning skate have Carlson, Brayden Point, Nikita Kucherov, Brandon Hagel, and Jake Guentzel working as a power play unit. The other unit was comprised of Hedman, Geekie, Rautiainen, O’Reilly, and Anthony Cirelli. There should be a pretty good pace to tonight’s game. One thing to remember is that NHL veterans are only allowed to play in two of the pre-season games, so expect the folks playing tonight to get the next one off and some of the Crunch players in camp to get some game time action. The cuts have already begun as the Lightning trimmed their camp roster by three players by releasing Jaxen Adam, Elliot Arnett, and Nathan Mayes from their try-out contracts. Their camp number sits at 64 with eleven days to go in camp.
