Episode 316 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented byThe Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features PWHL Playoff MVP and 2025 World Championship gold-medal winner Gwyneth Philips. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Philips takes us back through a whirlwind rookie season in the PWHL, including coming off the bench for injured college teammate Aerin Frankiel in the third period of the gold medal game and how it jump started her late season and playoff run with the Ottawa Charge after starter Emerance Maschmayer was also injured. Philips, who went off the grid camping shortly after the season ended, also talked about finding balance on and off the ice, including between her athletic -- sometimes acrobatic -- style and times when efficiency is the better choice, and shared great advice on how to approach the parts of practice that aren't greta for goalies that runs counter to that style, plus so much more.In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we continue to empty the mailbag, answering questions about catching pucks in the pocket, preparing for draft season in various leagues, and Hutch gets on his soapbox to talk about goalie shortages. We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features a second straight entry from Winnipeg Jets goalie Eric Comrie on key factors behind skate-or-slide decisions. And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a closer look at the updated Bauer 950 mask.

Before I go any further, 1. he’s just skating and that's okay. Two: yes, Demko is better than I ever was. 3. I make these videos not to critique NHL guys but to help young (and old) goalies learn.

Had to get that out of the way early because whenever I critique an NHL goalie I get a bunch of comments and messages telling me I’m jealous.
•
I actually could care less about which goalie I’m talking about. I don’t play goalie anymore. I train athletes, coach goalies and study to be a doctor of PT.
•
Anyways, when I find too many goalies either don’t know, or struggle to enter the RVH from a butterfly overlap.
•
To be fair, it is probably the hardest skating movement a goalie has to do.
•
Just because it’s hard doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be done. It means you need to work on it until you can do it correctly.
•
There’s no taking shortcuts in this game if you want to play at a high level.
•
Listen to the video for the break down. There is a longer, more detailed version on my youtube that also comes with a drill to help you practice this transition.
•
Just youtube Jamie Phillips, it should pop up

Episode 315 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented byThe Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a wide-ranging and information-packed interview with 16-year pro Jeremy Smith. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Smith shares experiences with some of the biggest names in goalie coaching -- Mitch Korn, Bob Essensa, Francois Allaire and Ian Clark -- during a 10-year run in North American pro hockey that started with being drafted in the second round by the Nashville Predators. The 36-year-old Michigan native also gets into the decision to leave it all behind and play for Kunlun Red Star in the KHL and China in the 2022 Olympics, adjusting to a very different style of game and touching on some of the different coaching he's received there, as well as starting insights into his use of Warrior equipment overseas, including being the highest level pro to wear their plastic slide plate in league play. It's a fantastic conversation loaded with great insights on several aspects of the position. In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we continue to empty the mailbag, answering questions about the shelf life of youth gloves, how to keep kneepads in place, and how to help kids who want to quit playing after a bad experience. We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features the return of Winnipeg Jets goalie Eric Comrie and a breakdown on managing screens and the importance of early awareness of shooter handedness when it comes to skate-or-slide decisions behind traffic. And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a closer look at the Vaughn VX1 Pro, which despite the name is their second price point pad and gloves ;)

Episode 310 of the InGoal Radio Podcast, presented byThe Hockey Shop Source for Sports, features a couple-dip of feature interviews with Vancouver Canucks prospects Ty Young and Aku Koskenvuo. In the feature interview presented by NHL Sense Arena, Young walks us through turning pro despite having a season of eligibility left in the CHL -- and we tell you why this is another sign the CHL is a big part of the Canadian goalie development challenges -- despite being good enough to finish top-10 in the ECHL with a .926 save percentage and go 8-3-0 in the AHL as a rookie, impressing the Canucks team that drafted him in 2022. Young talks about the biggest adjustments and differences at each level, which makes for a great spring board into our conversation with Finnish goalie Koskenvuo, who was drafted in 2021 and is preparing to follow Young's path after leaving Harvard University in the spring following three seasons. In the Parent Segment, presented by Stop It Goaltending U the App, we share tips on skate sharpening for parents. We also review this week's Pro Reads, presented by Vizual Edge, which features a special 21-minute video of Hart Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck breaking down his positioning and save selection while watching a variety of different types of attacks. And in our weekly gear segment, we go to The Hockey Shop Source for Sports for a closer look at the new Bauer FlyLite stick options, including a Source for Sports-exclusive model with a trigger grip that you can buy off the rack.
