Episode Description
Summary
Is Simon Edvinsson's standoff with the Detroit Red Wings still about money, or is a hard-and-fast trade request coming? The unsigned RFA has until Dec. 1 to sign and still play this season. It starts with Alexander Nikishin's one-year, $3 million deal ending his standoff with the Carolina Hurricanes, a team linked to Edvinsson. Then we get into how the Red Wings got here, from Steve Yzerman's original bridge offer to a summer in limbo and Shawn Horcoff taking over right before training camp; why Detroit may be waiting to see if Edvinsson changes his mind about a trade; why his frustration is fair; and who he's actually mad at. Plus: why Edvinsson holds the hammer and can still land a strong contract, what sitting out would cost him next to Moritz Seider on the top pair, why waiting him out beats trading him now, whether the organization ever valued him like Seider, and a message for Simon: forget the organization, come back for the fans.
