Episode Description
Summary
On the October 5th edition of The Sheet, Jeff Marek breaks down a chaotic start to the season in Detroit as Max Bultman joins the show to discuss the latest surrounding unsigned restricted free agent Simon Edvinsson, who reportedly now prefers a trade from the Red Wings. Marek and Bultman dig into how negotiations between Detroit and Edvinsson reached this point, why the 23-year-old defenceman may be ready to move on, what the Red Wings would need in return, potential landing spots and whether there is still a path toward getting a contract done. They also dive into the ongoing Dylan Larkin saga after the former Red Wings captain was booed during Detroit’s home opener, examining where the relationship between Larkin, the organization and the fanbase went wrong, whether his list of potential destinations could expand, what Detroit is asking for in a trade and whether a resolution is getting any closer. Later, David Pagnotta joins Jeff to go around the NHL and provide the latest on Edvinsson and Larkin, Connor Hellebuyck’s unresolved situation with the Winnipeg Jets and which teams could still enter the market for the star goaltender, plus the Toronto Maple Leafs’ continued search for roster upgrades, what John Chayka could be looking to add and which players may become available as the NHL season gets underway. All that plus the latest NHL trade rumours, news and storylines coming out of the weekend on The Sheet.
