Raw Charge
Summary
Let’s take a quick break from the Kucherov-BriseBois Saga to talk about something else for a bit – new uniforms! After a couple of weeks of teasing, the 32 teams in the NHL released their Hometown Remix Jerseys, marking the first league-wide alternatives under the new agreement with Fanatics, the official uniform provider of the NHL. The Tampa Bay Lightning were rumored to be leaning towards building around an element from their 2026 Stadium Series sweaters, and it turned out to be true. That’s right, the shoulder patch is now the main logo, just like a lot of folks wanted after seeing the Stadium Series design last year. Honestly, it’s not bad. They did tweak the design a little, it looks like the jawbone is a bit thicker and the lightning-shaped scar a bit more defined. The skull has also apparently taken a puck to the mouth as it has lost a tooth. “At the heart of the design is the 2026 NHL Stadium Series skull logo, which moves from the shoulder to the center of the jersey, taking its place as the primary crest with a fresh, new smile. The jersey’s black base is complemented by the return of Sky Blue, first introduced during the last year’s Stadium Series, creating a striking contrast throughout the design.” Going with black instead of Sky Blue is a nice touch as it is a nod to the team’s original color scheme. Along with the shade of blue and smiling skull the Bolts also brought back the stylized numbers that the team wore in both of their outdoor games. There are lightning bolts on the sleeves, but they are a little more subtle than the original third jerseys and the Retro Remix version. Finally, the inner hem replicates the balustrades that were part of the tease a week ago. The Lightning announced that the uniforms will make their debut on November 14 against Detroit. It won’t be a one-time thing, either. The team confirmed that they will wear them for every Saturday home game for the rest of the season. According to their press release, the Lightning are going to have a series of activations leading up to the debut game later this month. “As part of the citywide celebration, Lightning crest decals will appear along the Tampa Riverwalk, while 100 limited-edition Hometown Remix posters will be placed throughout the city on November 14 for fans to discover and keep as a piece of the iconic jersey drop. The celebration will extend to one of Tampa’s most recognizable landmarks, as Jose Gasparilla will receive a unique set of banners and lighting to mark the occasion. Additionally, the Hometown Remix crest will be projected at select locations throughout the city and on Ford Thunder Alley during home games on Saturdays, bringing the new design to life.” As always, it’s hard to judge the look fully until they’re seen in person. and on the ice. However, it’s not a bad look, and certainly not the worst, or laziest, of the 32 jerseys that were announced today. The uniforms and assorted accessories, t-shirts, and other swag are on sale at the Tampa Bay Sports Store. For all of you out of town fans, or those who like to buy through Fanatics, they’re posted for sale there as well. Thoughts?
